Apokalypsa: 2. světová válka používá provokativní záběry pořízené amatérskými filmaři, odtajněné přísně tajné záznamy a zpravodajské záběry, které v dané době nebyly odvysílány. Tyto znovu objevené záznamy byly obarveny, aby si diváci mohli představit, jaké to bylo zažít válku zblízka. Síla tohoto pořadu spočívá ve snaze vyprávět příběh 2. světové války novým způsobem a pomocí netradičních záběrů, které diváci ještě neviděli. Například v 2. díle uvidíte záběry francouzských školáků v malé vesnici nedaleko Arden. Je to jejich poslední den ve škole, předtím než budou muset vesnici opustit a obsadí ji Němci. Diváci také uvidí strašidelné opuštěné školní třídy bez dětí. Díky těmto záběrům je snazší si představit civilní či také "každodenní" podobu války. (National Geographic)
